Patience is the daughter of Nathan Bradley and Hester Griswold.
She first married Ebenezer Elton Sr. They had two known sons, Ebenezer Jr. and John. Ebenezer Sr. was lost at sea sometime around June 14, 1721.
Patience had two additional sons prior to Ebenezer's death, Hopestill and Ichabod who are presumably also Ebenezer's sons, but they took the surname of their mother's second husband, Daniel Cruttenden.
No marriage record is found for Patience and her second husband, Daniel. It is possible that Patience and Ebenezer Elton had already separated and these two sons are Daniel Cruttenden's natural children. Ichabod was born April 11, 1721, a month prior to Ebenezer's death date. Daniel Cruttenden is listed as his father on his birth record.
Inscription
Although this person was likely interred in Guilford's original village cemetery (now the commons and public park in downtown Guilford), no surviving gravestone was known in 1818 when all gravestones at the Village Green, but not the people's remains, were dispersed to other town cemeteries.
