80902 Tolland, Connecticut, gives Noah Grant's birth date as 23 JUN 1748. Other published sources give it as 20 JUN 1748. Regardless, there is a conflict with Noah's birth date and two twin siblings who are said to have been born and died in JUL 1748. There is a recording or transcribing error for at least one of the dates. Grant, Noah III (I14587)

80909 Town of Pomfret on Webster Road at route 60. There is a grape vineyards on Rt. 60 so one can not see the cemetery from that road during the summer (1993). Mary's headstone marking her grave lies in the grass, broken into three pieces according to Patriot-Soldiers of 1775-1783, compiled by Frederick Ward Kates, published in 1981. By Oct 1992 Mary's marker was missing and Augustus' marker was laying on the ground, unbroken.

Augustus Burnham marched with the first troops from Hartford CT, for the relief of Boston, MA in the Lexington Alarm, April 1775. He moved to some place in the state of New York on Lake Ontario opposite, and about fifty miles up the lake from Grand River, Canada. He was in Service of Conn. Men in the Revolution War [DAR # 58483].

Augustus moved to Arkwright, Chautauqua County, NY in June 1809. According to the State Gazetteer, the first settlement in Arkwright was made in the northwest part of the town in 1807, by Abiram Orton, Benjamin Perry, and Augustus Burnham.

According to the Holland Land Co. Sales in Chautauqua County, Epliphelet, Augustus' son purchased land in March 1805 a month before Augustus. Augustus original purchases was 120 acres in the NE part of lot # 7 of township 5, range 12 on 4 Apr 1805. He purchased on 24 Feb 1808 another track in the N-1/2 part of lot # 14 and on the 12 of Apr 1808 lot # 62 both in the same township and Range as the earlier purchase. On 19 Aug 1809 he paid $10 articled for the W-1/2 of lot 60 in township 5 and range 11 and secured a 119 acres of lot # 1 township 5 range 12. On 1 May 1810 he obtained 123 acres in the W-1/3 of lot 56, township 5 range 11.Boren, Virginia Washburn, Earliest Holland Land Co. Sales in Chautauqua County, NY, 1990, p. 11.
