80701 The John Hall who married Esther Hubbard and the John Hall who married Mary Willis were two different people. This is easily demonstrated because they both have children being born at the same time. However, many esearchers conflate these two different John Halls.

My working assumption - and this is something that I am currently working on for the Hall Families of New England study I am involved with (https://www.albionseed.com) - is that the John Hall born to Daniel Hall and Phebe Ward in 1717 was the John Hall who married Esther Hubbard and died in 1808 and is buried with his wife in the Old Farm Hill Cemetery in Middletown.

The key records of that family from the Barbour collection are:

Ancestry.com. Connecticut Town Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection)

HALL, John, s. Daniel & Phebe, b. May 26, 1717 (Vol. LR2, p. 26)

---, John, d. July 16, 1808 (Vol. 2, p. 257)

That death date for John at aged 92 based on the headstone with the memorial for Esther also in same cemetery with death in 1797 seems like good evidence for this John being the son of Daniel Hall and Phebe Ward.

The records for the John Hall and Mary Willis family give fewer clues.

HALL, John, Carpenter, m. Mary WILLIS, Dec. 14, 1752 (Vol. 2, p. 344)

A death record for a John Hall in Middletown of 25 December 1786 has been put up, but I cannot find the source for this so it is difficult to prove who it is for (eg, age at death).

The record below has been widely interpreted are being Mary's death record.

HALL, w. John, d. Oct. 1, 1762 (Vol. 1, p. 6)

This is definitely not Mary (Willis) Hall. FindaGrave morial for Mary Hall of Hartford died in 1825 where she is represented as widow of John Hall of Middletown and the sister of her daughter in law memorialized on the same memorial is more convincing:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/146471549

At this point I do not know who the widow of John who died in 1762 was.

Benjamin King was a farmer and lived at Suffield until after his father's death in 1722. He then removed to Stafford, at which place he had a farm of three hundred acres. His first five children, one of whom died in infancy, were born in Suffield, the last of these being born there in 1721. He left a will which still remains on file at Hartford.

80726 The notes in this genealogical history were transposed by Joseph S. Hall, Jr, whose wife Patricia A. Daignault is desecended through Henry Fitch Barrows, brother of Albert Barrows whose first wife was Mary Jane Slate.

In transposing the written notes to this typed written works, it was noted that Mary Jane Slate died 3 Sep 1849 and her daughter, Mary Jane Barrows, was born 31 Oct 1849. It is believed that the date of birth is wrong and that Mary Jane
(Slate) Barrows died during childbrith. If not, then it's possible that the dates were transposed in the original writing and the date of birth of Mary Jane Barrows is actually the date of death of her mother, and that her cause of death may
have been due to complications of childbirth. In either case, verification of this data is highly suggested.

80731 The parentage of Mabel Winchell is not documented. It is said that she was of Suffield, CT and married Nathaniel Hall. NEHGS Register (Vol. 63, p. 336) reports that they had a daughter Mabel, b. 14 September 1728, d. 12 October 1767, m. John Rising, 24 March 1748. Some evidence suggests that she was a Sarah (Moore) Winchell. If so, based on her like birth about 1695, that would make her a daughter of Thomas Winchell; however, in this scenario, she would likely to have been raised in Suffield by her step-father Benjamin Winchell. Winchell, Mabel (I1834)

80732 The Plymouth Colony Records show that John Hall was born 23 Nov 1650 at Braintree, MA versus 28 Jan 1651 as recorded in the book "Halls of New England" by Rev. David B. Hall 1883.  The date of 28 Jan 1651 could be a baptismal date.

80741 The son of Thomas F. Hall and Elizabeth "Betsey" Hall of Atkinson, Maine (probably a cousin to Thomas), James Robert Hall was a Civil War veteran - 3rd Maine Light Artillery, Jan-Mar 1862 - and -1st Maine Calvary, 1863-1865 - who married Dorcas Jenks, also of Maine, in 1858.

James was survived by six children: George Washington Hall, Charles Henry Hall, Ernest Hall, Fred James Hall, Lena May Hall Evans and Clara Hall Fellows. Another son, Edgar, who died as an infant. (Edgar is buried in the same plot a Thomas F. Hall and Betsey Hall.)

James took up farming following his discharge. During the mid-late 1860s, he and his family lived in Enfield, Maine, but by 1869, James and Dorcas had purchased a farm in Atkinson where they continued to live for roughly thirty years.

"Go west, young man," an often heard phrase of the time, clearly resonated with the Halls, as by the turn of the century all of the children, with the exception of George, had moved to California. Not wanting to be separated from so many of her children, Dorcas persuaded James at the age of 70 to sell their home and follow the children westward. Most, including James and Dorcas, ultimately settled in Alameda or Sonoma Counties.

His brief obituary notes that James was an esteemed citizen of Petaluma; a retired rancher who passed away at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Clara and Fred Fellows, and who had until late been "remarkedly well preserved, strong, and rugged."

He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California, near the grave of his late wife, Dorcas.

80743 The surname Barrows was variously spelled in ancient times. Burroughs, Burrows, Burrow, and Borows were common in the early American records.

John Barrows (Barrow ro Borowe), the immigrant ancester, was born in England and came to New England, sailing from the port of Yarmouth, having taken the examination to go to New England, stating his age as twenty-eight and that of his wife
Anne, as forty. He was a Cooper by trade. He was a proprietor of Salem, MA, May 10, 1637. Afterwards he removed to Plymouth. It is believed that he was related to Jeremiah Barrows or Burrows of Scituate and Marshfield. In 1665, John
Barrows was of Plymouth where he died in 1692. He seems to have had a second wife, Deborah.
