One of these was David Hall of Barnet who had been an Indian trader and the Indians and the country well." p. 54 "All the able-bodied men of Barnet were enrolled and served their turns when caled upon, but the only muster-roll preserved is that of Jacob Hall's Company..." p. 55 Resolves of Barnet "Barnett, Oct. 25, 1780. It is probably the she was buried in the "Stevens Cemetery. Her grave is not marked. This must, then, be the oldest burying place in town." p. 254 "It is probable that Dr. Samule White of Newbury was the first to attend a patient in Barnet. An old account book of his begins in 1773, mentions in an early page the wife of Elijah Hall as one of his patients." p. 471 Genealogy - Hall JACOB, DANIEL and ELIJAH HALL were sons of Daniel Hall who came with their father in boats from Charlestown to Newbury in the spring of 1763. Hall's ppond, brook and meadow in that town, perpetuate his name. Daniel Hall seems to have died in Newbury. He was one of the original members of the church at that place. These brothers received one hundred acres each for settling in Barnet. Mr. Goodwillie says that Jacob's lot included the meadows north of Stevens River, and Elijah's lot was north of Stevens and Rider's farm, and that Daniel Hall's lot was where Claud and Robert Somers first settled. Jacob had but one son, Moses, to whom he sold his farm, but both became early settlers of Shipton, P. Q., and much is said of them in the mistory of that town. Sarah, dau. Elijah Hall was the first child born in this twon and county. She married James McLaren, q/v. He seems to have had a son, Levi. According to Mason, Daniel Hall was an Indian trader, who gained so much influence over them that he was employed by General Bayley to induce some of them to come to Newbury and garrison the fort. His wife was the fisrt person who died in twon after the settlement. Later he moved to St. Johnsbury, Burke and Lyndon, being an early settler in each place.
