| 71884 | Miss Eleanor A. Hall. Miss Eleanor A. Hall, widely known as a nurse at Alexandria and at Fortress Monroe during the Civil War, and many years an active worker in the W.C.T.U., died suddenly at her home, 21 Allston street, Monday afternoon at 6 o'clock. She was 91 years, 1 month and 6 days old. She had been in poor health for more than a year, and had been confined to her bed most of the time, but was well as usual till late in the afternoon, when she complained of not feeling well and passes away before medical attendance was obtained. Medical Examiner F. H. Thompson viewed the body and pronounced the cause of death to be old age. Miss Hall was born in Wetmoreland, N.H. and was a daughter of Seth and Hannah Hall. In 1863 she tendered her services as nurse to the Union army and was located at the hospital at Alexandria for a year and then transferred to Fortress Monroe, where she remained till the end of the war. She came to Fitchburg soon after the war and until advanced years interposed she was engaged in seamstress work. She was a regular attendant at the First Baptist church for many years and an active member of the W.C.T.U. One sister, Mrs. C. A. Boynton Merrill, and a reception followed at the parsonage, 2704 Beverley Park Road, Columbus. Given in marriage by her brother, Pfc. Robert Ivanye, a veteran of Anzio, who has been awarded the Purple Heart, the bride was attended by Miss Claire Wolff of New Kensington, Pa., as maide of honor, and by Miss Lois Brundage of Montclair, and Miss Hope Harvey of Middletown, Conn., as bridesmaids. Mr.s Brundage served his son as best man, and John McWettry of Chicago, Ill., and Elston Belknap Jr. of Milwaukee, Wis., were ushers. The bride wore colonial gown of white satin with a collar of lace between tulle and satin, cuffs of lace, and a train.A juliet cap of lace held her fingertip veil, and she carried a colonial bouquet of white flowers. Her maid of honor wore a gown of pink lace and bet, and carried a colonial bouquet, and the bridemaids' gowns were light blue. The bride is a graduate of Oberlin College. Mr. Brundage attended Montclair High School and was graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard College. He is at present a staff correspondent for the Wall Stree Journal in Cleveland. The bridal couple will be honored this evening at a reception for a few friends to be given by the bridegroom's parents at their Christopher Street home, with Phil Bennett's orchestra furnishing the music. Jackson Ceremony Held at Waban This Afternoon At 4 o'clock this afternoon in the Union Church in Waban, Miss Jane Matthews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Newton Matthews of Carlton road, Waban, became the bride of Francis Gardner Jackson of North Andover, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson of Grove st., Westwood. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Joseph MacDonnell and was followed by a reception at the Brae Burn Country Club. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white tissue taffeta, fashioned on graceful mid-Victorian lines. Her tuile veil was held in place with a coronet of flowers, made of the same taffeta as her gown. Her bouquet was of white orchids, lilies of the valley and gardenias. Mrs. Manning Emery 3rd (Madeline Jackson) of Brunswick, Me., a sister of Mr. Jackson's, was matron of honor and the six bridesmaids included Miss Elizabeth Prescott of Brookline, Miss Margaret Paine of West Newton, Miss Clara Jackson of Westwood, also a sister of Mr. Jackson; Miss Polly Klotz of Waban, Miss Sally Scudder and Mrs. John Bradford Millet (Betty Watson, both of Brookliine. The matron of honor wore a portrait gown of Gothic blue taffeta with a heart shaped neckline. She wore a wide-brimmed hat of white straw with green and lavender velvet ribbons and her bouquet was of violets. The bridesmaids wore similar gowns of citron yellow taffeta with similar hats of white straw and carried bouquets of violets. The bride's mother chose a gown of blue lace with a small hat of matching blue and a corsage of deep wine orchids. Mrs. Jackson chose gray chiffon with a wine hat and a matching corsage of orchids. William Haight of New York was best man and the ushers included James Jackson, Jr., of Millis, John C. Matthews of Waban, a brother of the bride, Manning Emery, 3d, of Brunswick, Me., Robert Weeks, Jr., of Brookline, Raymond S. Patten of New Haven, and Joseph Nickerson of Dedham. Mr. Jackson was graduated from trinity om 1938. His bride was graduated from the Beaver Country Day School and is a member of the Junior League of Boston and the Vincent Club. Cusumano of Newton Center, wore a gown of apricot embroidered organdy with hyacinth blue velvet sash and a blue horsehair hat. She carried a bouquet of delphinium and talisman roses. With her white straw hat, the bride's mother, Mrs. Willard, wore a gown of pale green chiffon with a corsage of gardenias. Dr. Bernard Bell of Brooklym, N.Y., was best man for the bridegroom, and the ushers were Dr. Thomas J. Anglem of Milton, Dr. Donald C. Gates of Boston and Mr. Francesco L. Cusumano of Newton Center. Following a wedding trip, Dr. Bell and his bride will make their home on Autumn street, Boston, where they will be home after July 15. Mrs. Bell was graduated from Wellesley College with the class of 1936. Dr. Bell was graduated from the University of Alabama in 1929 and from Harvard Medical School in 1935. He is now associated with Dr. Howard M. Clute of Bay State road and is an assistant in the department of surgery of the Boston University Medical School and Massachusetts Memorial Hospitals.
