| 15225 | By Bill McNulty, shared by Morreen (Hall) Hansen Bill McNulty sat at Alma Williamson's kitchen table while she told him about her memories of the Hall family in Clifton. When she was a little girl she lived near the Halls of Hall's Mountain and knew where the log cabin used to be, replaced later by a farmhouse and barn. She was able to direct him to the farm sites where James, Benjamin, and Samuel Hall lived. The James Hall farm was on Airline Road, Route 9, to Canada. "As you continue east and going by Maplewood cemetery is a little road that goes about half a mile and by a lake on the left as you go around the bend of the road to the right, there is a dirt path to the left near a house sitting at the intersection. You take a left up the hill about two football fields high and you come into a big field and on the left side of that field is where the James Hall farm was, later to be James Gorham Hall's farm. At that entrance to the field on the right in the bushes is a flowing well with the best clear cold water you can imagine. You might have to move some leaves or twigs but it's there. At the bottom of the hill before you turned to go up the hill in front of the house was a deep hole with a big cover which can be seen to this day. James used to store foods for people as it was ice cold and about 15 feet deep. The road up to their old farm is a very rocky road today, but you can walk up to where it was. It's on top of a mountain and you can see for miles and miles." James Hall and some members of his family are buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Clifton, Maine. "Alma Williamson told me about James Hall's burial in Maplewood and showed me where--in the back left corner in a hollow where they pile all the rocks....so no stone." Bill said that Temperance Hall died 28 August, 1861, aged 66 years, and is buried in Lot 35 or 36, Maplewood Cemetery. Bill McNulty | Hall, James (I12105)

| 15226 | By Morreen Hansen (excerpt from Absalom Hall's life story in the David Hall Tree) Abraham/Absalom Harvey Hall was born January 12, 1859 in Edinburg, Grundy County, Missouri and named Abraham by his parents. His father was David J. Hall of Knox, Waldo county, Maine. His mother was Eda Kenney, also of Knox, Maine. Absalom's parents died when he was young, and he was raised by the William C. Harvey family of Edinburg. The family legend is that his mother died when Absalom was about three or four years old, and his father died when he was about eight. His siblings were unable to care for him and he was adopted by the Harveys. He was renamed for Grandfather Absalom Harvey. The Harveys had a son named Absalom who would have been about the same age, but he died young. Absalom's brother, Ansel Hall, deeded a piece of land to William C. Harvey on November 23, 1870. It is not known whether it was a sale or compensation for the care of Absalom. Absalom maintained a tie to the Harvey family throughout his life. The Joseph Lee Hall family has Harvey family mementos that Absalom saved. Harvey Franklin Hall, Absalom's grandson, was named for the Harvey family. | Hall, Absalom Harvey "Abraham" (I12017)
