Jonathan Bascom, fourth son of Ensign Daniel, b. at Lebanon, Conn., Sept. 14, 1740 ; graduated at Yale College, in class of 1764. Studied theology and was ordained, in 1772, over the Congregational Church at Orleans, Mass.

He married Dec. 23, 1766, Temperance Knowles, daughter of Col. Willard Knowles, of Eastham. She d. at Orleans, April 8,
1782, aged 34, and he married second Aug. 10, 1782, widow Phoebe Taylor Sears, daughter of John Taylor, of Orleans. She d. Aug. 16, 1784, aged 37, and he married third Feb. 10, 1785, Betty Freeman, of Orleans. He d. at Orleans, March 18, 1807.
