Buried North Harwich Cemetery.[source- Harwich Vital Records p 434] The gravestone is covered with lichen and moss and has become impossible to read. She is buried beside her 3rd husband, Job CHASE. First husband, Nehemiah DOANE lies buried in the Old Baptist Cemetery, Chatham, and 2nd husband Thomas HOWES in the Chatham Ancient Burying Ground at the corner of Queen Anne's and George RYDER'S roads, Chatham, MA.

A.D. 1769.

Widow Hope HOWES named guardian to David HOWES, a miner, [minor] to Thomas HOWES late of Chatham aforesaid, yeoman deceased. Dated 3-14-1769-
It begins: To Hope HOWES of Chatham in the county and province aforesaid, Widow's greetings. This particular document is very important as it establishes Hope as the mother of David HOWES a minor. David was probably less than a year old when his father, Thomas died.
Division of the estate of Thomas HOWES between his sons and legal heirs- 1-5-1770.
Barnstable
"We the subscribers being directed and empowered by the Honourable James OTIS, Esq. Judge of Probate for the County of Barnstable to divide two thirds of the real estate of Mr. Thomas HOWES, late of Chatham and county, deceased, to and among his children by virtue of said power and according to the directions as have sett off and divided said estate as followeth:- First to Thomas HOWES as the eldest son of the said deceased for his two fifths of estate- one parcel of land and here the said deceased house stood from a stake of stone by Seth SMITH'S fence in the midway of the northerly line of the house lott and set southerly to the middle of the chimney brick and on throu the house lott and so on to the publick road all the easterly part from this line to Capt. HOWESES land with the part of the house here is comprehended??? This a piece of land and swamp on the southward of the road about 3 ---- and only allowing to kitchen a privilege as hereinafter mentioned and also two thirds of the deceased's -- -- -- pond in partnership with Capt. HOWES; also one half of the --- old barn with liberty to take it off the land it now stands on and one fourth of the estate in partnership with Joseph HOWES
Secondly- To Richard HOWES for his one fifth part of the westerly part of the house lott from the aforesaid lines ran throu the chimney to Joseph HOWESES. And the westerly part of the house and the other half of the barn and one third part of ---- meadow at the Oyster Pond aforesaid with - part of the wood lots aforesaid. And also the privileges to fetch water from the well on Thomas, his part, and to drive creatures to the watering place as there maybe-------
Thirdly- To the --- as in all the land adjoining to Mathew TAYLOR'S land and all the half--- meadow, and her one third part of the - eleventh of the meadow called the Red River marsh which is in partnership with Zachariah SMALLEY and others and a third of the land withih the meadows fence belonging to---- two elevenths and one fourth part of the land in partnership.
Fourthly-- **** To David HOWES, a miner [minor] all that parcel of land near David COLINGS his house to the southward containing about 11 acres more or less and one third part of the aforesaid two elevenths of the meadow and land at the Red River and one fourth part of the other wood lands and this we give in as our report therron under our hands the fifth day of January in the tenth year of his majesties reign 1770"
