Jonathan was taken captive during the Revolutionary War at the surrender of Fort Washington near New York, November, 1776.
He was confined with 18 others of Capt. John Crouch's Wallingford company in a prison ship. Of these, only Dr. Jonathan Hall and another survived, and the latter died shortly after returning to his home in Meriden, CT.

Hall, Dr. Jonathan, practised medicine hereabout; was great on smallpox.
