He came to Ashfield from Yarmouth, Massachusetts in 1791 with his wife, Bathsheba (Sears) Howes (1739-1799).

He was known as "Sailor Tom".

He served as Private in Captains Ny & Griffith's Companies, Colonel Jacob's MA Regiment (DAR file 138182).

His leg was once broken by a whale.

He left a will on 9 March 1793; It was proved 3 Sep 1793.

Thomas married Bathsheba Sears on 29 Jan 1760 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Bathsheba (daughter of John Sears, Jr. and Deborah Crowell) was born on 13 Sep 1739 in Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts; died on 24 Aug 1799 in Ashfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts; was buried after 24 Aug 1799 in Northwest Cemetery, Ashfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. Deborah married Lot Bassett on 31 Jan 1782. Lot (son of Elisha Bassett and Ruhama Jennings) was born on 22 Jan 1755; died on 23 Jul 1835 in Ashfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
