"Ann Briggs, widow of Thomas, late of Taunton North Purchase and her son-in-law, John Cobb, grantors, to Benjamin Caswell and his wife, Mary (Mary being the former wife of Samuel Briggs), grantees, 'to 1/3 interest in land and dwellings for 10 pounds in open and money,' 2 Sept. 1707...Samuel Briggs had agreed to care for his aged mother Anne. Samuel was now deceased and his widow had married Benjamin Caswell. Anne Briggs decided to live with her dau. Susannah, wife of John Cobb. Hence Anne and John Cobb released Mary Caswell from Samuel Briggs' agreement.

"The estate of Thomas Briggs of North Purchase was sworn by Samuel Briggs, younger son of Thomas Briggs, and the inventory taken 1 Apr. 1696, the two older sons refusing the same. (Bristol Co. Adm., 1:144). In an agreement made by the three sons, Thomas, Daniel and Samuel on 5 May 1696, Samuel was to care for his aged mother; land was also set to their sister, Susannah, wife of John Cobb (which said Cobb sold to Uriah Leonard). Widow Anne Briggs renounced her dower, 26 Aug. 1697. Thomas Briggs was a member of the Military Company of Taunton."

May 5, 1696, Samuel Briggs youngest son of the said THomas Briggs and administrator of said estate "(the other two Elder Sons Refusing the same)" made oath to said inventory before John Saflin Probar: John Cary Registr : "the land given by the Decd:, by Deed of gift to two of the sons, as yet Undivided, being included herein".
