Born Rebecca Young, she first married Dr Joseph Strong in 1796 and then married Peter Gardiner after her first husband died in 1812.

Rebecca died in Piqua in 1862 but appears to be buried in Chillicothe according to a 1972 publication of Tombstone Inscriptions that lists a Mrs Gardiner buried, without a stone, in the lot of her son in law, John Wood.

Rebecca's children by her first marriage were Lucy, Joseph, Peter, Eleanor, William, Rebecca and Lavinia. By her second marriage she had at least one son, Richard J Gardiner.

Rebecca's daughter Eleanor married John Wood. Eleanor outlived both her husband John and her mother Rebecca. Eleanor Wood died in New York in 1863 and is most likely buried there.

Rebecca was born at Philadelphia, PA. She married Dr. Joseph Strong, son of Deacon Benajah Strong and Lucy Bishop, on 8 September 1796 at Philadelphia, PA. Rebecca Young passed away at Piqua, OH, at age 83.
