From FindaGrave:
The Plattsburgh Sentinel September 23, 1898
In the demise of this estimable woman, Plattsburgh has lost one of its noblest characters, one whose cultured mind she moved, whose ready hand never failed to give help to the needy.
Her Christianity was sweetly exemplified in her daily home life, in which she was the center of all that was delightful. Her hospitality was unbounded, and her unselfishness has left upon the minds of those who knew her best, an impress which time can never efface. The ruling motive of her life. "Not for self, but for others," was apparent even in death, and her long and painful illness was made beautiful by her loving thoughtfulness of those about her. Hers was a character rare indeed. Of her it may freely be said. "None knew her but to love her."
Mrs. Hall was a member of the Baptist Church, and has been identified with its interests since its organization in Plattsburgh. She has also been for many years a member of the "Board of Managers" of the Home for the Friendless.
Mrs. Hall became the wife of the late Hon. Monroe Hall in 1855. Since 1866, Plattsburgh has been their home. She was a sister of Benjamin J. Wells, of Duluth, Minn.; Edgar Wells and the late C.W. Wells, of Saginaw, Mich.; and Mrs. George W. Smith, of Upper Jay. She leaves a daughter and son, Miss Erminia J. Hall, of Plattsburgh and Hon. Benjamin E. Hall, of New York. Mrs. Hall was the step mother of Miss Charlotte and Mrs. Eldridge G. Ricketson, all of this place, and of Mr. Henry Hall, of Saranac Lake.
