    Henry was the sixth of seven children from Father Elbridge and Mother Mary with two half brothers from father's second marriage.

    Was a farmer then enlisted in the Union Army and fought under the command of Chamberlain in the 20th Maine Company G. He achieved the rank of Corporal. Was present at the battle of the Wilderness and hostilities surrounding Spotsylvania Courthouse and was wounded on May 12th 1864. The wound was listed as a contusion to the right hip. Family history said it was a shell fragment, others felt it was a musket ball. Henry carried the wound for the rest of his life.

    After the war he moved from Nobleboro Maine to the south and married Henrietta Wittington in Mississippi City, Mississippi, and settled near Pass Christian and was the father of twelve children.

    Moving later to Louisiana, Settling near Bundick and living in areas near Clear Creek, Barnes Creek and Melder. At one time a town where he was a Justice of the Peace was named Hallville (no longer in existence).

    In later years spent time in the VA hospital in Pasadena California. There is a statue in town where the VA once stood.

    Buried with his wife in DeRidder Louisiana.

    Kate Hall Was killed in The Grabow Riot picketing with the IWW against the Galloway Lumber Co.

    The International Workers of the World was organizing sawmill workers and every non-union mill was a target. A.L. Emerson was the organizer making the sawmill rounds and speaking on this particular Sunday. Seab Rogers was an eyewitness. "We had been to Merryville, Singer, Newlin, and Carson and were headed for Bon Ami. Before we could get there someone came up and warned that Bon Ami was filled with gunmen and that we'd certainly be killed if we went there. There was 15 wagonloads of us. Most of the men were armed. We headed for Grabow instead. I was driving the lead wagon, a brand new one pulled by a span of mules. Emerson was in my wagon. Somewhere along the way Emerson traded hats and coats with Decatur Hall. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon when we pulled up before the Grabow office and the shooting started right off. Three men were killed in my wagon. "kate" Hall went down first, I guess they figured he was Emerson, what with him having Emerson's hat and coat on. Then a fellow named Martin was shot and another whose name I don't recall right off went down with him."

    Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Sunday, March 12, was from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting resumes on Monday in the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tony Hand. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

    Survived by his wife of 62 years, Wilda Jeanette Stewart Hall; three sons, Stewart Erwin Hall, Gary Kendall Hall and Dale Arnold Hall; two sisters, Ruth Young of Jonesville and Dot Johnson of Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Joseph Hall, Lindsey Hall, Matthew Hall, Danielle Hall, Andrea Springer, Lundyn Springer and Kendall Hall; and great-grandchild, Wesley Hooper.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. Hall and Queen Coleman Hall; and two brothers and three sisters.

    With The Lord's Help," Ruth Eloise Young went to her heavenly home on November 8, 2012. Ruth passed away at the Holly Hill Nursing Home surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was 89 years old.

    Ruth was born in Carson, LA. on March 23, 1923, to Henry and Queen Indiana Hall, and raised in Elizabeth, LA. She attended and graduated school from Elizabeth. She married her husband, Winnard Young, Sr. in 1939. After following her husband and his work to several locations, they settled in Oakdale, LA., where their six children were raised. Her husband, Winnard, preceded her in death by 44 years. After his death, she went back to school and became a successful hairdresser in Oakdale for about 25 years, which enabled her to provide for herself and where she courageously and faithfully raised her family. She was a member of Oakdale First Baptist Church for 48 years and joyfully participated in the choir. In 2000 she moved to Jonesville, La. to be closer to some of the family and was a member of Grace Baptist Church there.

    Ruth enjoyed reading, bible studies, her crossword puzzles, cooking for her large family during holidays, and her grandchildren. She had a green thumb especially when it came to her Christmas cactus which she made bloom every Christmas. Ruth also was a proficient seamstress and provided many beautiful clothes for their children and grandchildren and even sewed her oldest daughter's wedding dress.

    It was observed by her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, her friends, her church family, and her pastor that Ruth had stored in her heart many scriptures from the Bible and 'out of the abundance of her heart' she expressed and demonstrated her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    She was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.

    Ruth is survived by three sons: Winnard (Billy) Young Jr. and wife Diane of Sulphur, Frederick Young and wife, Jeanne of Moss Bluff, LA., and Weldon Young of Lafayette, La.,; three daughters: Martha Lynn Tubre and husband, Doug, of Jonesville, La., Sue Ellen Richard and husband, Michael, of Sulphur, and Jennifer Potts and husband, Allen of Sulphur. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

    The children of Ruth Young would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the many skilled professionals and staff at Holly Hill Nursing Home involved in her long stay there.

    Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.

    Miles was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 6, 1930 to Gertha Poole and Miles Hall, Sr. He grew up in Beaumont and moved to Orange with his family as a teenager. He graduated from Stark High School in 1947 and then joined the Merchant Marines. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. In 1954 he married the former Ann Aldredge, also of Orange. Together they had three children.

    Miles went to work for DuPont Sabine River Works in 1953 and retired in 1993. He served on the boards of the DuPont Employees Recreational Association and Sabine Federal Credit Union. He also a member for many years of Southeast Officials Football Association (SOFA) and as such refereed high school football all over Southeast Texas. Miles enjoyed sports, especially golf, and loved to watch the Bridge City Cardinals.

    A devout Christian, Miles prayed faithfully, and led his family to the knowledge and love of God. For decades Miles served on the Vestry of St. Paul Episcopal Church, and as a Diocesan delegate. He was a member of the Bridge City Masonic Lodge No. 1345.

    Miles will be remembered as a loving father and a loyal friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, and his sister, Edna Stanbrough.

    He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Rutledge, and her husband, David, of Bridge City; his son, Miles Hall III and his wife, Donna, of Beaumont; and his daughter Linda Burkom and her husband, Maury, of Houston. He was the proud Pawpaw of eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his nephew, R.B. Stanbrough of Austin, and his dear friend of more than 85 years, Johnny Smalley, and his wife, Barbara, of Beaumont.

    A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Orange.
