James C. Hopkins married Abigail "Nabby" Chase in 1822. Her first husband was James' brother John Hopkins b. 1770. She married (2) to Obadiah Baker, and after his death, married (3) James C. Hopkins. Her daughter Fanny from her first marriage (and his niece) lived with them and the three were buried near each other.
Will of James C. Hopkins of Brewster, dated 22 February 1847 bequests one dollar to each of 3 siblings, brother Perez, sister Ruth Handy and sister Polly Baker. The rest of his estate is bequeathed to his wife Nabby Hopkins and in the event of her death or marriage to another man, his estate will then go to "my said wife's daughter Fanny Hopkins..."
