    Very little is known about the two daughters of Richard and Elizabeth Howell (Mary and Betsey) or one of their sons, (John). They each moved with their family from Harwich to Douglas in 1779.

    The Douglas Town records indicate that Mary married Solomon Stockwill at Douglas on February 20, 1782. She was 19 at the time of her marriage.

    Widow, Mary Stockton (77) and residing in Sutton, Mass., applied for "and her pension was allowed for the actual service of her husband as a private in the Mass. troops Revolutionary War for a period of six months, twenty-nine days; a part of the time he served under Capt. Craggin and Col. Tyler. Place of enlistment is not stated. Source: U.S., Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970 by Walter Lincoln Stockwell in 1921.
