Very little is known about the two daughters of Richard and Elizabeth Howell (Mary and Betsey) or one of their sons, (John). They each moved with their family from Harwich to Douglas in 1779.

The Douglas Town records indicate that Mary married Solomon Stockwill at Douglas on February 20, 1782. She was 19 at the time of her marriage.

Widow, Mary Stockton (77) and residing in Sutton, Mass., applied for "and her pension was allowed for the actual service of her husband as a private in the Mass. troops Revolutionary War for a period of six months, twenty-nine days; a part of the time he served under Capt. Craggin and Col. Tyler. Place of enlistment is not stated. Source: U.S., Sons of the American Revolution Membership Applications, 1889-1970 by Walter Lincoln Stockwell in 1921. She is found in her son-in-law, Amos Bigelow's household in the 1840 United States Federal Census for Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts. In the home were 1M (50-60) and five females 1 F (10-15), 1 F (15-20), 1 F (20-30), 1 F (40-50) and 1 F (70-80).

Palmer Hall owned and operated a sawmill in Eaton, NY with his sons.  They supposedly built many of the steeples on the churches throughout central New York.

A native of Vermont, he was married first to Philena, who died in 1836, and then to Lucetta Lewis.

At his death, he was survived by his wife Lucetta, daughter Aredine Maydole, and sons William Burdette Hall, Eugene Hall, Hiland W. Hall, and Lewis M. Hall.
