Solomon Stockwell served as a Private in Captain Craggin's Company, Col. Tyler's Regiment, Massachusetts Militia during the Revolutionary War.

He married Mary Howell on 20 February 1782 in Douglas, Worcester County, Massachusetts. They had at least four children: Olive, Peter, Sophia and Fanny.

1790 United States Federal Census: Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts (page 545) - Head of Family: Solomon Stockwell - in the household were 5 members: 1M under 16, 1M over 16 and 3Fs.

1800 United States Federal Census (04 August 1800): Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts (page 166) - Head of Family: Solomon Stockwell - in the household were 8 members: 1M 10-15, 1M 16-25, 1M 26- 44 and 1F under 10, 2F 10-15, 1F 16-25 and 1F 26-44.

1810 United States Federal Census: Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts (page 8) - Solomon Stockwell - In the household were 2 members: 1M 45 and over, and 1F 45 and over.

Widow, Mary Stockton (77), residing in Sutton, Mass., applied for "and her pension was allowed for the actual service of her husband as a private in the Mass. troops Revolutionary War for a period of six months, twenty-nine days; a part of the time he served under Capt. Notes:

Palmer Hall owned and operated a sawmill in Eaton, NY with his sons.  They supposedly built many of the steeples on the churches throughout central New York.

A native of Vermont, he was married first to Philena, who died in 1836, and then to Lucetta Lewis.

At his death, he was survived by his wife Lucetta, daughter Aredine Maydole, and sons William Burdette Hall, Eugene Hall, Hiland W. Hall, and Lewis M. Hall.
