Adah was the daughter of William Riley Hall and Mary E. Murch. Her parents resided in Rockport Maine where her father was a fisherman. She was the granddaughter of John Louder Murch and Irene Huckins of Ellsworth and Trenton Maine. She had three brothers, Frank, Edwin and Benjamin Huckins Hall and two sisters Malinda Grace and Emily Vennard Hall.

Adah moved to Andover Mass where she finished school, receiving honors at her graduation. She lived with her Aunt Emily (Murch) Vennard in Andover, Mass and spent her early adult years in the companionship of her Pomeroy and Dodge cousins who also resided there. She spent summer vacations in Maine visiting her mother and other friends and relatives.

After graduation Adah taught school and then became a bookkeeper for the Merrimack Insurance Company where she continued for many years. She lived with her Aunt Emily for over 30 years until her Aunt's death in 1931. At the age of 50, Adah relocated to Boston and worked her way up to manager of a book shop (St James Ave), residing on Beacon Street. Through this association she met Bushrod Campbell and together they later created the Campbell and Hall Fund. Originally set up to fund programs addressing social issues of Boston, the fund still exists today providing grants for many worthy causes.

Ada was a remarkable woman who lived a full life. She died just short of her 89th birthday. She is buried with her Aunt Emily in Andover.
