John bought land in Mercer County, IL in 1838. John married Mary Macumber(Mary May Camber) 9 Dec 1830 in Peoria, Peoria Co., IL. John and Mary's Children; Elizabeth, James, Hugh, Benjamin Franklin, Nancy Jane, Mary and Charlotte Love. I don't have any info on Elizabeth or Mary, In David Wilson's Journal he refers to Aunt Elizabeth quite a lot. David Wilson is Nancy Jane Love McMullen's son in law.

I have seen his death date as 1876 but in Benjamin Franklin Love's obit it says his father died when he was nine years of age and he is not listed in the 1850 census or any later one.

Son of John and Mary MaCumber Love. He had two other siblings that preceded him in death Hugh Love who died at Missionary Ridge, Tenn during the Civil War and Mary Love who I have no info on, his other three sibs are mentioned in the Obit.

B.F. Love returned home Tuesday from Farragut, Iowa, where he attended the funeral of his brother. The following obituary appeared in the Farragut Leader:

At his home in Farragut, Iowa, on Christmas Eve, December 24th, occurred the death of James Love, one of the prominent citizens of Fremont County, at the ripe age of 72 years, 3 months and 4 days. Grandpa Love was born in Stark County, Ill, September 20, 1833, where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Marie Pierce, December 24, 1862, with the wife of his youth he came to Iowa 36 years ago and settled on the farm in Prairie Township where he lived until two months ago, when he moved into Farragut. Two sisters Mrs. Jane McMullen, New Windsor and Mrs. Charlotte Holliday, Swedona, Ill, and one brother Frank Love who lives at Sherrard, Ill, with a devoted wife and two grandchildren Ina Thurman and Ira Burdick are left to mourn his demise. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Love, both preceding them to the Betterland. Mr. Love has been seriously ill for the past four or five weeks with a complications of diseases, resulting as above stated. The funeral services were held at the Christian Church conducted by Elder Spencer after which the body was taken to Riverton for burial followed by a large company of neighbors and friends.

A particuarly sad feature of the funeral was the fact that a woman fell dead just as she was entering the Church during the progress of the funeral.
