#43. CAPT. JOHN HOXSIE⁴ (Joseph 3, John 2, Lodowick 1) was born in Richmond, R. I. 22 Jan. 1737, and died in Exeter, R. I. in 1820. He married first, Hannah Bill, 21 May 1761, daughter of Judge Joshue Bill, of Exeter, He married second, Phebe Sherman, widow of Elisha Sherman. Hannah (Bill) Hoxsie died 26 February 1785. John Hoxsie was a farmer of Exeter, R. I. He served as Capt. of Varnum's Rhode Island Regulars during the Revolution. He left a considerable estate.
