Alexander Taylor is the paternal grandfather of singer/song writer James Taylor. In his recently released autobiography, "Breakpoint", James speaks of his father, Dr. Isaac Montrose Taylor, the only child of Alexander Taylor and Theodosia Haynes. Theodosia died from infection received during childbirth. The physician handling the delivery was her father-in-law, Dr. Isaac Montrose Taylor. Dr. Isaac Montrose Taylor may have committed suicide over losing his daughter-in-law due to his incompetence.

JT: After my mom and dad divorced, my father's alcoholism spiked. My father was born of tragedy: His mother died when he was born. He was raised until the age of 7 by his aunt and uncle, and then they sent him away to school. (Dr. James William Vernon and Sarah Cole Taylor)
