    From FindaGrave:

Sgt Samuel Hayden was the son of Samuel Hayden (1677 - 1742) and Anna Holcomb (1675 - 1756). He built a house in 1737 in Windsor, CT about a mile from were he was raised. He kept a tavern where he served Aunt Nabby's pies, nut-cakes and cheese. He was also a blacksmith making nails, pot-hooks, tongs, farming tools, saws and even shod horses and repaired guns. Of all his transactions he kept an detailed account.

He married Abigail Hall (1715 -) on 17 Nov 1737. Children:

    Samuel Hayden 1738– 1743
    Augustin HAYDEN 1740– 1823
    Dr Moses Hayden 1742– 1813
    Abigail (Hayden) Whitmore 1745–  1825
    Samuel Hayden III 1748– 1838
    Aaron Hayden 1750– 1804
    Luke Hayden 1752– 1756
    Seth Hayden 1756–

In 1765 he sold his home in Windsor and moved to Torringford (Torringford was a hill on the East side of Torrinton, CT which was established by members of the town of Windsor). He and his wife were members of the old church until 1761 when they helped form the new North Church. In Torringford he was hired as a dentist to pull teeth and paid for a lawyer to defend his son Augustin.

During the French and Indian Wars and during the revolution he was occupied repairing guns.

His son Moses removed to Conway, MA and became a doctor. Possibly Samuel was living with his son when he died in Conway, MA. His son Moses later moved to New York and is buried there. We have not found the burial or death date of his wife Abigail.

Date: Monday, September 15, 1777 Paper: Connecticut Courant (Hartford, Connecticut) Issue: 660 Page: 3:

"The 30th of August departed this life at Conway in the State of Massachusetts Bay Mr. Samuel Hayden formerly of Windsor in this State in the 70th year of his age. He was exercised(?) for a long course of years with grieves pain and indisposition of body which he endured with exemplary patience. A few days before his decease he was taken with the camp disorder [typhus] which with his old difficulties put a period to his life. He met death with a christian calmness and serenity of mind, and there is good reason to believe that he is gone to that world where there is no pain nor sorrow. He has left a widow and five children to lament his death."

Please note there is a transcription error on the Ancestry.com Hale Index showing the burial of Samuel Hayden with his father in Palisado Cemetery, Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut, where he was born. However, careful examination of p 78 of the Hale transcription records shows that it was not him. Please also note that the burial monument records his age as 77 while the mortuary notice above correctly states his age as 70 at his death.
