    Asa Woodward was born on 5 Feb 1760 in Canterbury, Windham County, Connecticut. He served in the military several enlistments under different commands in the Connecticut Continental Line from 1776 to 1780. He was with Washington at Valley Forge. He was also with Ethan Allen at the taking of Ticonderoga. Asa was married twice. His first wife Polly (last name unknown). His second wife Ruth Joy (1770-1853) married 19 Dec 1798 and lived for a time in Cornwall, Addison County, Vermont . He died on 30 Mar 1837 in Homer, Licking County, Ohio. Parents: Capt. Joseph Woodward and Mary Bradford. His parents were Capt Joseph Woodward (1726-1814) and Mary Bradford (1728-1895)
