"The estate of Thomas Briggs of North Purchase was sworn by Samuel Briggs, younger son of Thomas Briggs, and the inventory taken 1 Apr. 1696, the two older sons refusing the same. (Bristol Co. Adm., 1:144). In an agreement made by the three sons, Thomas, Daniel and Samuel on 5 May 1696, Samuel was to care for his aged mother; land was also set to their sister, Susannah, wife of John Cobb (which said Cobb sold to Uriah Leonard). Widow Anne Briggs renounced her dower, 26 Aug. 1697."
