Like his brother John, he was a prominent man of Weymouth, holding many positions in the town affairs, his name frequently appearing on the records. He was, 1714, identified with the establishment of the fishing trade between Weymouth and Cape Sable, being with others granted land called "Hunt's Hill" and "the Beach" in North Weymouth, on which to prosecute the business. He paid 4 pounds 5 shillings for a pew in the Meeting House, on the "west side of the great dore."
