    Catherine was the daughter of Joseph & Anne Robbins Lyman. On 1 November 1843, she married Warren Delano.

    They were the parents of 11 children-Susannah Marie (died young), Louise Church, Deborah Perry (Forbes), Anne Lyman (Hitch), Warren III (died young), Warren IV, Sarah Anne (Roosevelt), Phillip, Katherine Robbins (Robbins-Collier), Frederick Adrian, and Laura Franklin.

    All but one of her children are buried with her in the Delano Family Tomb. Sarah Anne Delano Roosevelt is buried in the St James Episcopal Churchyard in Hyde Park.

    Two of her children died as small children and three died in their 20's.

    Sara Ann Delano was the wife of James Roosevelt and the mother of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She was born and raised in the town of Newburgh, NY. Her family was very wealthy and she traveled often to China and surrounding countries as a child. She was a firm believer of a regimented lifestyle, and carried through the finances and actions of her very large estate in Hyde Park after her husband's death.

    She played a big part in FDR's campaigns and entertaining many of his prominent guest at her home in Hyde Park NY. She was supporting her son's career and presidency even standing in for the first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, several times at public occasions. She died 230 days after hers son's re electing to Presidency. In commemoration of her life, she was honored with the Sara Delano Roosevelt Park in New York City's Lower East Side, which was dedicated during her lifetime, in 1934.
