    HOLDEN –  Ormsby John Buck, 88, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11, 2014 at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus. He was born in Buckfield, Maine, May 15, 1926, the son of Warren F. and M. Elizabeth (Garland) Buck and had lived in Hopkinton, Moultonborough, NH, and Sarasota, Florida before moving to Holden in 2009.

    His loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Elizabeth (Hall) Buck, went to be with the Lord in 2009. He leaves a daughter, Carol L. Uptegrove and her husband, Leif of Holden; three sons, Bryan B. Buck and his wife, Rebecca of California, Stephen W. Buck of California and Robert J. Buck and his wife, Theresa of Westborough; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.

    John was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country he went to school and earned a bachelor of art's degree at the University of New Hampshire, a master's of education at Plymouth Teachers College and a master's degree in ceramics at Alfred University. John was an art teacher for many years in the Natick School System before retiring. He attended Holden Chapel & was active in mentoring men, bible study & prayer.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for John at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, in the Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir Street, Holden. A private committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elijah Scholarship Fund at Holden Chapel, Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
