Evelyn Gresham Cherry
1925 - 2014

Evelyn Gresham Cherry was born January 21, 1925 to Robert L. and Allie Gresham. She was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and died peacefully, March 1, 2014 with her family by her side at the age of 89, after suffering a brain aneurysm. She is now in the arms of the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, John Clifton Cherry with whom she enjoyed fishing and traveling in their motorhome; her parents Robert Lee and Allie May Gresham; her brothers Glen and Robert Gresham, Jr. Loved ones left behind to cherish her memories are her devoted daughters, Cheryl Henderson Love; Gail Cherry Rappa (Ray); her cherished grandson, Scott Hall; and much loved great-grandchildren Natalie and Nathan. Also are her brother-in-law, Floyd Cherry; sister-in-law, Katie Gresham; niece, Jackie Harrison; nephew, Doyle Gresham, many cousins and friends.

Evelyn attended local schools and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1943. She began her Civil Service career in 1944 until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed her job, her co-workers and supervisors, always. She will always be remembered for her loyalty to her job, family, friends and church. She was always there when her family needed her and even when they didn't.

She was an active member of Bellview Baptist Church where she had many friends and enjoyed the many activities with the Golden Circle Sunday School Class.

A visitation with reception will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home 619 New Warrington Rd, from 11:30am to 1pm on Thursday, March 20, 2014. The memorial service, officiated by Pastor Dr. Gregory McBride of Bellview Baptist Church of Pensacola, will be held at 1pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bellview Baptist Church 4750 Saufley Field Rd Pensacola, FL 32526 or a charity of your choice . Oak Lawn Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the privilege of arrangements.
