    wife of Willard Hall Calais Vital Records say Willard married Eva Somes on April 24, 1872 in Calais but the Ellsworth American reported Mt. Desert, May 1, by the Rev. A. R. Plumer, Mr. WILLARD S. HALL of Calais to Miss EVA SOMES of Mt. Desert.

    In the 1860 U.S. Census, Eva Somes, 12, was living in Tremont, Maine with Daniel, 57; Sally S, 42; Caroline F., 21; Edward P., 19; Henry J., 16; Issac, 14; twins Ida and Charles P, 8; and Lyman H., 2.

    Eva Hall was born on September 16, 1848 in Mt. Desert, Hancock County, Maine to hotel proprietor Daniel Somes and Sally S. Trask.

    Daniel Somes Jr. (1803-1882), called "Old Uncle Daniel" by some, owned the Somesville tannery and nearby shoe factory, businesses that his father had established. His brother Lewis operated the cobbler shop while Daniel and his wife, Sally Trask Somes, hosted rusticaters at their inn. Much of the time Daniel was occupied with official business as deputy custom officer for the island.
