- Death of Alvan S Hall of Ashfield
Alvan S Hall, 98, died Saturday night at the home of his sister, Mrs Lelia Hall Miles, in Ashfield after a short illness.
He was one of eight children of Thomas Hall and was the uncle of Dr G Stanley Hall of Clark university. In early life he lived in Hatfield and later in Goshen, where he remained until the death of his third wife. He then removed to Ashfield and lived for years with is brother, the late Orville Hall, and two sisters, one of whom, Mrs Miles, is the sole survivor of the family.
He was a quiet, unobtrusive man, who never cared for office or for wealth. One son, Frank, who was a clerk for the post office in North Adams, died years ago.
The funeral will be held to-morrow afternoon at the house at 1 o'clock, Rev. H. F. Hallett of the Congregational church officiating. The burial will be in Goshen.
