      From my notes on the Boston Hurd family, an extension of an article I wrote for the New England Historical and Genealogical Register in 1981:

      JOSEPH5 HURD (John4-3-2-1) was born 4 Nov. 1746, and died at Eastham, Mass., in 1826 ("Bill of Mortality in the South Parish of Eastham, 1772-1828," Mayflower Descendant 9 [1907]:38). He married at Barnstable, 23 Nov. 1769 MARY STEWART, who was born 7 Oct. 1745 and died in 1825, aged 79 (ibid.), daughter of James Stewart.

      Joseph Hurd of Eastham, yeoman, sold to Solomon Sparrow of Eastham, "cordwinder," "a piece of Cleare land lying in Eastham ... in a neck of land Called Sampsons neck about five acors," in a deed dated 7 June 1787, acknowledged 1 March 1791, but not recorded ("Unrecorded Barnstable County Deeds," 96).

             ii.       Sally, b. 5 Nov. 1772; d. 29 Sept. 1812; m. as his second wife, at Eastham, 1 Jan. 1795 (rec. at Dennis [VR], 5 Jan. 1795) Seth Sears, b. at Yarmouth, Mass., 8 Dec. 1767, d. at East Dennis, Mass., 5 March 1806, son of Dea. John4 (John3, Paul2, Richard1) and Priscilla (Sears) Sears.

                    Children, surname Sears:
      1. Hepsibah, b. at Dennis, 6 Oct. 1795; d. at Brewster, 19 Feb. 1871; m. Solomon7 Hurd (Benjamin6, Joseph5, John4-3-2-1), q.v.
      2. Phebe, b. at Dennis, 14 Feb. 1797.
      3. Priscilla, b. at Dennis, 13 Sept. 1798; m. 14 Jan. 1819 Edward Hall.
      4. Seth, b. at Dennis, 12 April 1800; d. 11 March 1808.
      5. Belinda, bp. 28 March 1802, d. at Brewster, 15 Nov. 1880; m. Gould7 Hurd (Benjamin6, Joseph5, John4-3-2-1), q.v.

             iii.        Phebe, b. 9 Oct. 1774.

             v.        Eunice, b. 28 Jan. 1779; perhaps the Betsey Hurd of Brewster who m. int. 14 Jan. 1804 Zachariah Howes of Dennis (Brewster & Dennis VRs).
