Word has been received in East Dennis of the death in Omaha, Neb., on Sept. 29 of Thomas Franklin Hall, last of the East Dennis sea captains.

Captain Hall was the son of the late Christopher Hall, shipmaster and shipbuilder. He was born in East Dennis in 1841 and at the age of 15 began a sea career by sailing the Belle of the West and the Wild Hunter.

Later he commanded the bark Egypt, owned by the late J. Henry Sears of Brewster.

Returning from the sea, he settled in Omaha and for 20 years was engaged as a contractor in furnishing ties for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was elected to the Nebraska Legislature and for six years was Omaha postmaster. He had returned to East Dennis for many years for the Summer seasons.

Captian Halls wife, who was Amelia Crowell of West Yarmouth, diedin 1913. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. A. A. Arter of Omaha, a granddaughter, Mrs. Clark, and three great-grandchildren.
