  • Notes
    • Samuel Hall was Captain of the Grafton Militia, and was the oldest man in town at the time of his death.   He took the whole care of his garden during the previous summer and grafted some high pear trees, on a ladder, on his 90th birthday, and
up to four weeks before his death could sing and play on this bass violin from notes, without glasses.  He never used them except occasional evenings.  The brass band of Groton, MA and many friends honored him on his 90th birthday.  In about
1815 or 1816, he removed from Newton, MA to Grafton, MA where he died.
