- "Uncle Clif was the brother of my paternal grandmother. One of eight children born to George Washington Hall and Effie Sweet, Clifton was a successful businessman and retired executive of F.W. Woolworth Co. Like his father, George, Clifton was involved professionally in real estate. Uncle Clif kept a cottage on Cape Cod where my family enjoyed a wonderful summer vacation one year. During my teens, Uncle Clif gave me some stern advice about how to approach adulthood--advice which served me well throughout life. Clifton was survived by his wife, Anne Dempsey, his sons, Clifton Jr., Donald and Alan and his daughter Ann."
