- James Louis Larsen of Bellows Falls, VT died on April 8, 2012 at Springfield Hospital in Springfield, VT. He was born in New Bedford, MA on February 12, 1922, son of Louis and Clara (Meuse) Larsen.
He attended schools in Walpole, MA and worked as a master electrician and troubleshooter for many companies in the United States and overseas.
He retired in 1981 from Idlenot Dairy in Springfield, VT.
He also served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Crevalle.
He was a member of the Saxtons River Volunteer Fire Department, the Odd Fellows, served as assistant Boy Scout Troop Leader in Saxtons River, and was a hunter safety instructor. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VT WWII Submarine Veterans, and a member of the US Submarine Veterans. He was the oldest Vermont submarine veteran.
On May 1, 1943, he married Margaret Metcalf, who survives. Also surviving are his children, James "Skip" Larsen, Robert Larsen and companion Terry Tatro, Diane Patterson and companion Maxwell Frazer, and Pamela Kissell and companion Richard Nebbett, all of Bellows Falls, Debra Whitcomb and companion Gary Rorison of El Paso, TX, Ronn and Sandra Larsen, Scott and Colleen Larsen of Kallispell, MT; his sister, Marilyn Greeno of Massachusetts; and brother Richard Larsen of Virginia; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Larsen was predeceased by his parents, his son Alan, and his daughter, Cheryl Riendeau.
The burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Saxtons River Cemetery.
