Aft 2 Nov 2014 |
- Marguerite "Marge" Pearl (Hall) Chapdelaine of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly of Owego, New York went to the loving arms of the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2014.
The daughter of Ralph and Mary (MacDonald) Hall she was born in Astoria, New York on August 25, 1932 where her father worked on construction of the Lincoln Tunnel.
She moved with her family to their farm in West Boylston, Massachusetts where she graduated from Major Edwards High School then went on to earn her degree in nursing from Nashua (New Hampshire) Memorial Hospital.
In 1955 she married her favorite dance partner Bob Chapdelaine and together they raised two sons.
Marge was an OR Nurse at Wilson Memorial Hospital and was a school nurse for 21 years for the Owego-Apalachin School District where she was a favorite of many students and teachers. She also worked as a waitress at many Owego restaurants but loved working at the Parkview Hotel most of all. Her favorite activities were bowling and playing the Owego Bingo circuit. Upon her retirement she and Bob pursued their love of camping and travel eventually settling in the sunshine state. Marge will be remembered for her loving and contagious laugher, her devotion to everything her sons did, her never ending stories, and her love of the slot machines. She was one of the luckiest people on earth.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years Robert, her sons and daughters in law Mark and Lissa Chapdelaine of Gillet Pa, and Dennis and Rosemary Chapdelaine of Ottawa, Ontario, her Brother Ralph and wife Joy Hall of Holden, Massachusetts, many nieces and nephews and 2 very special nieces Kathy Dombrowski of Sarasota, Florida and Beth Tivnan of Upton, Massachusetts.
Her mother, father and brother Clifford predecease her.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 12:00 at Estey, Monroe & Fahey Funeral Home on 15 Park Street in Owego. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 to 11:45.
Burial will follow at Gibson Corner's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that a contribution in Marge's memory be made to Mom's House, 770 Harry L. Drive, Johnson City, New York 13790.
