      Called Captain Smith in his Obituary in the Hollis Times of March 1892. He lived in Hollis for many years at the Smith homestead in Monument Square and continued to farm there. He was an hones upright man and was held in high esteem by the citizens of town, having been honored with may positions of trust. He served the town as Representative to the General Court in 1838 & 1839. He was also Town Clerk from 1832-1833, 1842, 1846-1847 and 1854-1859.
