  • Notes
    • From FindaGrave:

Rev. Joseph Capen remains one of Topsfield's most famous historical figures. His house, the Parson Capen House (built 1693) still stands in the town center.

Capen married Priscilla Appleton of Ipswich in 1684.

He was the son of Captain John Capen, whose family can be traced back to the county of Dorset, England. He was also the son of Mary Bass, whose family came from Essex county in England.

His grave, along with his wife's, lie on the exact spot where the pulpit stood at the Topsfield Meeting House, where Joseph Capen preached often.
