    • Son of President William Howard Taft. Born September 20, 1897 he died June 24, 1983. Athlete, soldier, lawyer, author, politician and civic reformer, he married Eleanor K. Chase and had seven children. A deeply religious man, he was a founder of the World Council of Churches, and he worked tirelessly to better his beloved Cincinnati, serving on the City Council for sixteen terms and one term as mayor. In 1925, he was the youngest president of the international Y.M.C.A.

      Charles "Charlie" Taft was Mayor of Cincinatti in the 1960's.
