  Besides carrying on the family farm, he followed his father as a trustee of the Franklin County Agricultural Society.  He served two terms in the Main House of Representatives and two in the State Senate, after which he served 12 years as a County Commissioner.  He belonged to the Masonic Order and Kora Temple Shrine. Member of Maine state senate 5th District, 1943-46.
