- Joseph Samuel Hall, Sr. was born at home in the original house of Alvah Hall.
He was a Signalman Third Class (SM3) onboard the USS INTREPID (CVA-11). He entered active duty on 6 Sep 1956 and received an Honorable Discharge on 1 Oct 1959. The USS INTREPID was also known as the "Fighting I." He has spent most of his life as a truck driver, although worked at Draper Machine Shop in Hopedale, MA as a Radial Drill Operator in his earlier adult years. He also helped run the family dairy business known as Sunnyside Farms in Uxbridge which was on the land owned by Alvah Hall. The farm was owned and operated by his mother Alice and his father Raymond. He won second place at the New England Truck Rodeo in a regional competition with 17 other drivers while working for Leaseway Motor Car, Framingham, MA.
He resided in Uxbridge, MA his entire life.

UXBRIDGE - Joseph S. Hall, Sr., 74, of Uxbridge, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at home with his family by his side. He was the husband of Jeanette (Silbor) Hall.
Mr. Hall was a lifelong farmer on the family farm Hall's Dairy Farm/Sunnyside Farm located on W. Hartford Ave. He also was employed as a truck driver for Rosenfeld Concrete in Hopedale, Anchor Motor Freight in Framingham, and Aggregate Industries in Boston, retiring in 2004. Mr. Hall was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 170 in Worcester.
He was born Nov. 7, 1938 in Uxbridge, son of the late Raymond C. Hall, Sr. and Alice M. (Belanger) Hall and had attended Uxbridge High School. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Intrepid CVA-11. He was also a Freemason.
Mr. & Mrs. Hall observed their 52nd wedding anniversary on Nov. 19, 2012.
Mr. Hall enjoyed dancing- especially the waltz, and gardening around his home.
In addition to his wife Jeanette, he is survived by two sons, Joseph S. Hall, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Blackstone and Randy M. Hall and his wife Christine of Uxbridge; a daughter Robin M. and her husband Robert Mills of Folkston, GA; a sister Mary Christiansen of Uxbridge; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond C. Hall, Jr. and grandchildren, Kevin Hall and Keith Hall.
Visiting hours will be Saturday May 11, 2013 from 9 - 11 AM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St. (Rte. 122), Uxbridge. Funeral services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Evangelical Congregational Church, c/o Handicap Fund In Memory of Kevin and Keith Hall, P. O. Box 152, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
