    • Katharine Marie Rambo's mother, Emma, felt she was being abandoned and would not attend the wedding. It was a quiet ceremony, performed by Rev. Frank Graeff, their former pastor at Haws Avenue Methodist Church. Her father left when Katharine was only 2. She left high school before she graduated to help support herself and her mother (her older brothers already married).
