Oliver was born about 1667 or 1668 at Pawtuxet (now Warwick,RI) to Abiah Carpenter, most probably by Abiah's known first wife, Mary Redway. He died between Oct 4,1727 when he was granted administration of his son Oliver's estate, and Nov 20,1727, when his own estate was presented, and administration granted to his widow. His will was probated Nov 25,1727.
He married, first, about 1693, Sarah ____, whose surname is not known.
He married, second, at Yarmouth,MA on Nov 6,1721, Sarah O'Killey. This marriage was at the Yarmouth Friend's Meetinghouse.
The children of Oliver Carpenter were numerous, and the following is an attempt to sequence them and assign them to each marriage. This is difficult because his first wife's death date is not known, and he married again in 1721. Sources include the 1898 Carpenter Memorial and Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island.
