Richard Higgins married (2), in Eastham MA, October 1651 Mary (_____) Yates, widow of John Yates of Eastham. She survived her second husband and married (3) at Piscataway as his second wife Isaac Whitehead, she having recanted her intention to marry Samuel Moore Sr. of Woodbridge. She was living in 1702 when her son Thomas allowed her a life tenancy in part of his home.
Their 9 children: Mary (Higgins) Looker, Eliakim, Jadiah, Zera, Thomas, Lydia, Rebecca (Higgins) Martin, Ruth (Higgins) FitzRandolph Tuttle, & Sarah (Higgins) More.

Mary also had a son John Yates , Jr. (1651) by her first husband John Yeates-Yates. This son married Deborah Kendrick and a grandson married Abigail Rogers, Mayflower Descendant . This information is easily located in the History of Eastham by Pratt, as well as the Genealogy of Richard Higgins by Catherine Higgins, and NE Marriages before 1700 by Torrey. The Higgins Genealogy also discusses the extended relationship with his stepson John Yates, JR.
