Joanne Hall
April 30, 1928 - October 22, 2017
Joanne Allum-Hall passed away during the early morning hours of October 22, 2017. Until her death, Joanne lived at University Village Retirement Community with Warren Hall, her spouse of 71 years.
Joanne was born to Ivan and Dorthy Allum in Toledo, Ohio on April 30, 1928. Two sisters, Bonnie and Marilyn, arrived to complete the family.
Since Joanne's parents owned a country grocery store, she has long enjoyed telling an array of stories about working in the store as a teenager. One of her favorites was how her mother had instructed her not to eat more than one cone per day from the ice cream counter. Joanne delighted in describing how she scooped several times per day but only used one cone so as not to disobey her mother's instructions.
The Allum family moved to Arizona in 1946 where Joanne married Warren Hall who was serving in the U.S. Navy. Ruth, Raymond, Janet and Evan soon called her "Mom." Later, she became "Grandma" and "Great Grandma" numerous times over.
The placard mounted on her walker at University Village read "artist and writer." Joanne began painting and sculpting in the 1960's. Recently, she wrote poetry and a story of her life called "The Journey: Meeting Extraordinary Challenges."
Joanne's burial took place at Calvary Cemetery with arrangements provided by the Fitzgerald Funeral Home. Memorial services to be at University Village's Stovall Theater, Tulsa, on November 11, 2017 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 918-291-3500
