Moss Bluff- Mary Ruth Hall, 91, passed away peaceful in her home Saturday, August 30, 2014.
She was born July 12, 1923 in Elizabeth, LA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will (Ada) Merchant. She was known to her family as Maw Maw Hall. She made every holiday special in her own way . She loved to do crossword and Sudoku puzzles, yard work, gardening, fishing, and crochet. She was a wonderful seamstress and a great cook known for her chicken-n-dumplings and cornbread. She loved being with her family and spoiling her grandbabies. She was a great care giver to her late husband, J.D. and anyone who needed nurturing. Those left to cherish her memory are children, Pat Stephenson and husband, George of Plano, TX, Mary Edith Clayton of Moss Bluff, LA, Becky Roberts and husband, Jimmy, of Moss Bluff, LA, Marie Trahan and Danny of Lake Charles, LA, Jim Hall and wife, Sandra of Moss Bluff, LA; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, E.W. "Dub" Merchant and wife, Lora of Moss Bluff, LA; 1 sister, Eunice Wilson of Shreveport, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Hall; her parents; 3 sisters, Myrtle Hassel, Myrtress Maddocks, and Nell Riccio.
Her Homegoing will be at 11am Saturday, September 6, at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm Friday, September 5 and will resume Saturday 8am until time of service at the funeral home. The Rev. John Astling will officiate. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery of Moss Bluff.
