Stephen HOPKINS is the Son of John Hopkins and Jane Strong.
NOTE: The identity of John Hopkins's wife as Jane Strong of Chardstock, Dorset, England, daughter of Thomas & Joanna Bagge, is controversial. While there are records pointing to Jane STRONG as his wife, there is no strong evidence proving or disproving Jane's Maiden Name.

In 1680 Stephen HOPKINS erected a grist mill for the inhabitants of Mattatuck (now Waterbury), New Haven Co, CT. He did not move there, he stayed in Hartford, Hartford Co, CT, but he sent his son John HOPKINS to operate this mill.
