DANA BARBOUR SATELLITE BEACH, 62, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007. He was born on August 10, 1944 in Hartford, Connecticut, to Roger and Sonya Barbour.
Dana obtained his Bachelor degree in English from Florida Atlantic University and his Masters degree in English Literature from the University of Florida.
He served as a Lieutenant in the Naval Reserves.
Dana taught English at Satellite High School and later was an adjunct professor at Brevard Community College, Nova Southeastern University and Florida Institute of Technology.
He was an author who was dedicated to enhancing social policy awareness through his written works including a published novel, The Question.
He enjoyed fishing, music, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother and father; sister, Beth Lane; and brother, Rowdy.
Dana is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Jo Barbour; daughter, Mari (Matt) Bennett; son, Devin Barbour; sister, Susan (Doug) Clark; brothers, David (Nancy) Barbour, Jeff (Sharon) Barbour, Wesley (Darlene) Barbour and Francis Barbour; granddaughter, Delaney Bennett; grandson, Chase Bennett; and several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Beach Funeral Home East Chapel, 1689 S. Patrick Dr. Indian Harbour Beach, (321)777-4640.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to WFIT Member Services, 150 W. University Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32901 or the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231-4596.
