Lebbeus HALL (11/9/1764 Westerly, Washington, RI-1833 Stewartstown, NH) m. 1/17/1775 in Suffield, Hartford, CT to Submit FAIRMAN (12/91760 Enfield, Hartford, CT-) d/o Benjamin FAIRMAN and Abigail BEAMAN.

Lebbeus left home at the age of 16 to join the army. According to papers he was a private in Capt. Humphrey's company in Lt. Colonel Olney's regiment of the Rhode Island line. When he first applied for his pension the clerk said they they could find not record of him, this was later corrected.

He next appears in the records with his marriage to Submit Fairman on 17 Jan 1788.

He was in the 1790 CT census living next door to John French.

Later that year he and John French had removed to Quebec, settling in Eaton County.  Lebbeus and John were close as Lebbeus gave his second son the middle name French.  His sons Lebbeus, Jr. and Luther French went on to live in Stewartstown, NH.

His son Samuel married Lydia Reynolds and lived in Dudswell, Quebec, and his son Charles does not appear in the records and may have died young. His daughters Submit and Esther married and lived back and forth between Quebec and NH.

Lebbeus moved back and forth between Stewartstown, NH and Eaton, Quebec as babies were born on both side of the border as if it did not exist.

His wife Submit died about 1820, and he married Betsey, daughter of David Wallis, about 1821. Betsey was previously married to Samuel Bliss and had one son by him.  Information about his second wife came from a death certificate for Mary Jane Drown who declared that her father was Lebbeus Hall from Rhode Island and her mother was Betsey Wallis from Townsend, MA.
